THE INTERSECTION OF HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS!
At The Residence, we know that a healthy diet can contribute to overall health. We also know that delicious food can contribute to an overall feeling of wellness. That's why we work so hard to ensure that our residents experience meals that are good for the body and the soul.
DELICIOUS:Each dinner meal features a choice of two entrees along with side dishes and tempting, homemade desserts. Our Dining Services Director and her staff are happy to accommodate a variety of dietary needs and special requests. We have options available for residents and guests on meat free or gluten free diets.
Once new residents have settled into their apartment at The Residence, our Dining Services Director schedules a meeting with them. During that meeting, she interviews them about their likes and dislikes. Using this information, she is able to cater our daily menus to ensure that everybody has something tasty available that fits their needs. Once each month, we hold Dining Committee meetings, which we welcome all of our residents to attend. During these meetings, our residents have the opportunity to let us know what they do and don't like about the foods we serve. |
HEALTHY:The Residence was among the first retirement communities in Maine to sign the "Healthy Food in Healthcare" pledge.
We believe that where our ingredients come from is a significant contributor to their overall healthfulness. Because of this, and because we have a strong desire to help sustain Waldo County's rich agricultural heritage, we strive to include locally sourced food whenever possible. That means food that's not only good for our residents, but good for our community and our environment. Each meal is made from scratch by our in-house chefs. That way, we reduce the amount of harmful preservatives that are so common in highly processed foods. All meals are reviewed and approved by a licensed dietitian. |
Here's a Sampling of what's on our menu:
Wild Porcini Ravioli in Rosemary Cream Sauce
Spinach, Blueberry & Broccoli Salad Banana Walnut Bread Pudding with Homemade Toffee Sauce |
Herbed Stuffed Clams on the Half Shell

We always offer an alternative menu for people who either don't enjoy or cannot eat what is available to choose from on the ever-changing daily menu.
For our Retirement community members, an evening meal is included in the monthly rent. Assisted Living residents are provided three meals per day. Two and three meal per day plans are available to all at The Residence. Residents are also encouraged to have guests for dinner or lunch.
