A Delightful Conscientious Dining Experience
At The Residence, we believe in sustaining the
rich agricultural heritage of Waldo County and we strive to make good
decisions about the impact we have on our environment. We also really
care about the quality of food that we offer to our residents! That's
why we have become one of the first retirement communities in Maine to
sign the innovative 'Healthy Food in Healthcare Pledge'. We've
rearranged our food purchasing to include more locally grown and organic
meats, produce and dairy products. We are enhancing the nutritional
value of the delicious meals for which we have become known, while
supporting our own local farmers. This means that while we are making
conscious decisions to improve the quality of our community and the
community around us, our meals taste even better!
Each dinner menu features a
choice of two entrees along with side dishes and tempting, homemade
desserts. Our Dietary Director and her staff are happy to accommodate dietary
needs and special requests, including vegetarian diets. She meets with
new residents to learn about their likes and dislikes and holds monthly
Dietary Meetings, so residents can be involved in the planning too!
In independent living, an evening meal comes
with the monthly rent, while in assisted living, you receive three meals
per day plus healthy, in-between meal snacks. All of our meals are
approved by a licensed dietician.
